On Thursday, May 12, 2016, Ms. Kuhl’s fourth grade class earned an outdoor “picnic” to celebrate their success at working together as a team to demonstrate good behavior and build a sense of community. For several weeks, students were given the opportunity to use mindfulness, demonstrate self-control, and to show willingness to work together in a quiet, respectful and cooperative manner. A paper chain was started, and a link was then added for each successful experience. The paper chain began at the ceiling and when it reached the floor, the class won an outdoor lunch picnic. It was a perfect day…and a perfect way… to celebrate!
