On Friday March 31, 2017 Robbins Lane Elementary School held its first International Night, a program in the works since the beginning of the school year. Thirteen countries were represented through informational booths set up throughout the perimeter of the school gymnasium. Parents took the initiative to plan these booths and the structure the event. Children had an opportunity to visit the booths and learn about the cultures of different countries. Upon arrival, students received a “passport” which was stamped at every booth they visited. In addition, there were cultural presentations, dances and performances from a number of countries. The “Cultural Food Court” provided an opportunity for students and parents to sample food from a number of countries. Three dishes were created from each represented country, providing a wide variety of food to satisfy everyone’s taste buds! Children were so enthusiastic to try out new flavors and parents were thrilled to have their children expanding their food repertoire!!! By the end of the event, many parents and students agreed that this was one of Robbins Lane’s best events and they were grateful for the opportunity to gain an appreciation for the cultures of the world. A special thanks to all the vendors who contributed to the event, Robbins Lane principal, staff and PTA.
