Village Elementary School continued its tradition of hosting a schoolwide Thanksgiving feast as every student and every staff member was invited into the school gymnasium to enjoy turkey with all of the appropriate trimmings. Village parents volunteered to serve those dining while students donned school spirit T-shirts with each grade level sporting a different color. Kindergartners and first-graders made paper hats to wear during the feast. District central administrators were also invited to celebrate Thanksgiving with students and staff. Village mothers Deb Ceglia, Tara Lieberman, Erica Reese and Tracy Romano were influential in coordinating the feast.
Once again, South Grove Elementary School said thanks to local firefighters, police officers, and veterans with a traditional Thanksgiving feast in the kindergarten/grade 1 annex. Dressed in various costumes, students sang Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” and performed the “Turkey Twist” and other entertaining numbers for their heroes under the direction of music teacher Dr. Conklin. Ms. Mancuso, the school’s developmental reading specialist and lead teacher, coordinated the event. Central administrators were also invited to show their gratitude to these fine men and women. The school also held a Thanksgiving celebration in the main building for children in grades 2-5.
Baylis Elementary School kindergarteners put on a Thanksgiving show of their own before parents, students, staff and administrators in the school gymnasium. Also festively dressed, students sang songs titled “Pilgrims Are Marching,” “Things I’m Thankful For” and “The Turkey Ran Away.” Kindergarten teachers Ms. Pizzarelli, Ms. Trotta and Ms. Ward collaborated with music teachers Ms. Eggerman and Ms. Lasky to coordinate this memorable collection of performances. Teaching assistants also helped out with the students’ costumes.
