Fifth-grade students at South Grove School had an opportunity to participate in a coding and robotics Brown Bag, as an alternative to their traditional recess activity. Interested students used Blockly, a visually-intuitive coding language, to program Ozobots which are miniature robots. Students also used Chromebooks and worked collaboratively in teams to develop programs, calibrate the Ozobots and successfully load their programs on to the robots. The teams then tested their programs in the “Ozobot Stadium,” which is one of the most loved sections of South Grove’s Fab Lab. The excitement could be heard throughout the hallway as each team cheered on their robot. May the best robot (and coding program) win!
