In recognition of International Peace day, which is observed around the world on September 21,, third graders at Baylis began their day sporting smiles, writing poems and making illustrations of what peace means to them.
In 1982 the United Nations General Assembly declared International Peace Day a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. Students and educators are encouraged to observe this day through art, writing, and good deeds.
This year’s focus at Baylis is sustainability, (protecting of our natural resources). Baylis students ended their day planting seeds for the future and leaving school the same way they began–with bright smiles along with hopes for a world of peace.
