Kindergarten classes at Baylis Elementary School visited Schmitt’s Farm, where every student enjoyed a wagon drawn ride through the farm's vegetable and pumpkin patch. Classes learned how crops are grown and harvested in a hands-on manner as students picked string beans, radishes and pumpkins. Each class left with a string bean plant, corn stalk and pumpkin to bring back to school for a closer inspection. Students also discussed the properties of pumpkins, both inside and out. Some brave children even touched the inside of the pumpkin!
