Robbins Lane Elementary School students recently completed the 2016 Long Island Cares Practice-a-Thon, raising close to $550 in the fight against hunger. Student musicians logged in the minutes they practiced throughout the month of March, asking sponsors (family and friends) to match their practice minutes with monetary donations. All proceeds from the students' donors are going directly to Long Island Cares, a food bank originally launched by the late pop musician Harry Chapin.
Robbins Lane student-musicians who raised money are pictured displaying certificates of appreciation they received from the Robbins Lane Music Department and being congratulated by teachers (at left) Jeffrey Biener, Jeannette Velsmid and (at right) Dr. Catherine Da Silva. Student participants are (back row, L-R) Samantha Carbone, Ryan Lam, Jeslin Wong, (middle row, L-R) Sophie Weiskopf, Molly Lebolt, Hallie Diamant, (front row, L-R) Jesse Lebolt and Benjamin Handell. Missing from the photo is participant Jenna Ferraro.
Each participant also received certificates of appreciation from Long Island Cares. Great job!
