Emma Leiman earned 2nd place in Nassau County for the 2016 -2017 VFW
Patriot's Pen Essay Contest. The theme for the 2016-2017 VFW Patriot's
Pen Essay Contest was “The America I Believe In.” Pictured with Emma are
Gus Scutari and Commander Bill Santini from the Syosset VFW, James
Kassebaum (HBT principal), and Heather Schulman, Emma's seventh grade
social studies teacher. In addition to certificates of recognition,
Mr. Scutari and Commander Santini awarded Emma checks totaling $100 for
her outstanding achievement.
