This October, the eighth grade took a fantastic trip to our nation's
capital, Washington, D.C. This three-day adventure was jam-packed with
social and educational opportunities. Our students started the journey
with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where they witnessed the
changing of the guard and visited the President John F. Kennedy
memorial. Students toured key sights and monuments such as the Lincoln
Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, and
the recently completed Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. Students
visited the solemn war memorials of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.
Visits to various Smithsonian Institute museums such as American
History, Natural History, and National Archives filled the days with
interesting facts and sights. One highlight was the trip to the
Newseum, a modern museum of media, where students enjoyed a "4-D" movie,
saw original newspapers of historic events, and visited landmarks such
as a piece of the Berlin Wall and World Trade Center. Our enthusiastic
staff ensured that everyone had a positive experience!
