For the sixth annual “Cultural Wax Museum,”
third-graders at Baylis invited parents to share in their knowledge of communities throughout the world. Their journey took them to far away architecture, exotic lands, rich traditions, customs and performing arts throughout the lands.
Students experienced the joy of inquiry and learned to think deeply about a topic of interest. After reading and writing about what they had learned, students created slideshows to illuminate the sights. In true wax museum fashion they dressed in gala costumes to depict the culture and parents enjoyed the official museum walkthrough with student exhibitors maintaining various poses.
As they compared and contrasted communities, students gained respect and empathy for both our similarities and differences. They celebrate harmony in our world and look towards understanding as a bridge to world peace.
